5 Weirdest ways to Consume Cannabis

The world of cannabis is constantly shifting and changing, and so are the methods that people use to consume it. It is now possible to eat, drink, vape, smoke or even rub into the skin in order to feel the effects of THC. But that is only the beginning. Each year fresh ideas are being thought up by innovators for how cannabis can be consumed.

But old and new, what are the weirdest ways to feel the effects of the plant? We’re going to be taking a look at 5 of these. Have you tried any of them yourself?

Cannabis Innovation

The reason why weirder ways to consume cannabis are coming out all the time is due to the amount of exciting innovation that is taking place in the current market. There was once a time where cannabis was illegal in many of the major countries around the world and even speaking its name was taboo. However, we’re now moving into 2023 and the weed industry is worth a whopping 40 billion dollars. In addition, it’s only increasing in value. It is a rapidly growing and evolving field, and innovation is driving much of its growth and success. Before we look at the 5 weirdest ways to consume cannabis, let’s first understand a few reasons why there is so much innovation in the cannabis industry in the first place:

Changing Legal Status

The USA is always a great example when discussing cannabis legalization. As of 2023, 21 of the 50 US states have now fully legalized marijuana. As more and more countries and states legalize cannabis for medical or recreational use, the demand for new and innovative products is increasing. Companies are constantly working to develop new ways to consume cannabis and meet the needs of consumers, leading to a surge in innovation.

Even in the UK for instance – where weed is legal only medicinally – cannabis vapes are sold under the false-ish name of ‘dry herb vaporizers’. This is because they want to cater to those who want to vape instead of smoke their medicine. However, if companies referred to them as weed vapes they would likely get sanctioned in a variety of ways.

Medical Potential

Another reason for innovation in the cannabis industry is the substance’s medical benefits. Cannabis has long been used for medicinal purposes, and research is now in full force to explore its positive effects on health. This has led to the development of new cannabis-based products such as tinctures, oils, and topical creams, as well as the creation of new strains of cannabis with specific medicinal properties. Unlike before, you can now use THC or CBD cream to aid your aches and pains. The cannabinoids enter slowly through the skin.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

Without sounding overly cynical, many people follow the money. The cannabis industry is now worth a great deal and, consequently, it is attracting a lot of entrepreneurial talent. Many people are looking to start their own businesses or invest in the sector. This spirit of entrepreneurship is driving innovation as companies compete to come up with the next big thing in the cannabis world.

Technological Advancements

As with any industry, technological advancements are also driving innovation in the cannabis sector. New technologies are allowing for more precise cultivation methods and more efficient extraction processes. Rosin press’, for instance, are allowing people to make their own cannabis concentrates at home. Even the knowledge of cannabinoids within the cannabis plant are increasing, with more being found all the time. Now you can buy THC oil that contains new cannabinoids, such as CBN and THCV. These advancements are only going to progress.

5 Weirdest Ways to Consume Weed

Whilst there are a plethora of ways to take your cannabis, let’s have a look at some of the strangest ways. You can eat it in edibles, you can drink it, you can vape it and, of course, you can smoke it. But what is even weirder than that? Let’s take a look.

1 – Snorting

For a long time, cannabis seemed to be about the only recreational substance in the world you couldn’t snort to get you high. Ketamine? Yes. Cocaine? Yes. MDMA? Yes. Cannabis? Absolutely not. Well, you can now. Nasal spray is actually a very common way to consume medical cannabis specifically. Sativex, which is a legal substance in many countries, is used to treat aches and pains. This is given in the form of a nasal spray. Thus, you can technically snort cannabis in this day and age. However, you wouldn’t want to do it in its pure form. If you finely crushed raw weed buds and tried to snort it, it would probably hurt a lot. Plus, because cannabis needs to be heated to be activated – hence why it’s cooked or vaped or smoked – no desired effects would actually occur. Thus, you have to snort it using a special nasal spray.

2 – Cannabis-Infused Wine

Another strange way to consume cannabis is in wine. Now we’ve all heard the fateful expression: “weed before grass, you’re on your arse”. But what if they’re infused together? Does drinking them at the same time somehow make them a perfect combination? Well, not to worry, this wine brand sell non-alcoholic beverages. The Rebel Coast Winery in California have brought out their very own brand of non-alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc, containing 5mg of THC per glass. The interesting thing about this drink is that the THC is fast-acting, which means it won’t take ages to kick in like usual edibles. Drink Me Mag writes:

“The HydroPS technology developed by Ebbu is fast-acting and reliable. Consumers can enjoy a glass at dinner and know how it will affect them, just like drinking a glass of traditional wine.”

No alcohol, but THC that will give you that immediate buzz that wine normally does. It’s a brilliant idea.

3 – Cannabis Lube

Believe it or not, there are some people who use cannabis-infused lube as a way to enhance sexual pleasure. Cannabis lube is said to provide a tingling sensation and increase blood flow to the area, which can lead to more intense orgasms. It can also lead to a higher sex drive. Quim Rock’s Intimate Oil is one of the best on the market, containing tea tree oil and THC. The interesting addition to this product is that it can also help the health of the vagina too, with its antiseptic properties aiding any urinary tract or yeast infections. Result. Consuming cannabis through your sexual organs is certainly a strange method, but it evidently gets pleasurable results.

4 – Cannabis Concentrates

Cannabis concentrates are products made from the cannabis plant that have had the majority of the plant material removed, leaving behind a highly potent and concentrated substance. They are truly the future of cannabis. There are several different types of concentrates, including oil, shatter, wax, and live resin. These products are often used for their high levels of THC, CBD, or other cannabinoids. They are typically consumed by dabbing, vaporizing, or adding them to food or drink. The reason why cannabis concentrates have made this list is because they highlight just how innovative the industry has become. People can now purchase their own industrial level rosin press machines – use its force and heat – and create their own. This stuff can be over triple the strength of raw buds.

5 – Cannabis Suppositories

It might sound made up but, honestly, cannabis suppositories exist and are part of a new wave. Putting weed up your rectum is now thought to be one of the most effective ways of consuming it. Not only are they said to provide a quicker and more intense high, but they also avoid feeling stoned even when you consume THC. THC has many health benefits, but sometimes people don’t want to have to also feel ‘high’ as well. The suppository choice avoids this entirely. So before you turn your nose up at it, why not give it a go?

Conclusion

The world of cannabis is ever evolving and the ways in which people consume it is developing also. However, there are certain methods that stick out as a little more weird and wonderful than the others. These were the 5 weirdest ways to consume cannabis. There are probably plenty more that are still unknown. However, sometimes the weirdest things can be the most beautiful.
